Doesn't long hair mean a hairdresser can make a mistake and it won't be too noticeable whereas if you have short hair, it requires more skill to style it? Also, they're taking more of MY hair so I should charge THEM for it!

I want to know why you get charged 20.00 to cut either 2 inches or 3 feet of your hair. It should be based on the length you get cut. AAlso, I have the same problem with the long hair issue.

The reason for this is simply the fact that we are trying to make a living just like everyone else. We work on commission for the most part, and the longer the hair, the more time it takes. So if we are with that client for and hour, we need to be able to make enough money to be a decent hours pay. It is no different that the fact the men getting their head shaved have to pay the same as men who get a different type of cut. (At least where I work)

When it comes to blowdrying it usually takes a lot more time and effort to finish it.
When it comes to coloring it takes more time and product if pulled all the way through the ends.

OK let me see if i can make u understand our theory.I have been a hairstylist 15 yrs,so I do know the answer to this.If someone just wants a trim,it's the same price as any other length hair.If u want a bodywave or highlights or lowlights and ur hair is long,it takes alot longer to get the job done.It can take an hour or 2 depending on the length,as if the hair were short,it wouldn't take as long.It wouldn't be fair to us to stand all day and do long hair for the same price as short,it takes more time,more products,and lots of patience.A great hairstylist would not take off more of ur hair than u ask,and so there would be no reason to charge US.Oh and dont forget to tip ur stylist.

It completely depends on the service. If you're only trimming the very ends of the hair, I agree. However, if you're talking about a permanent or changing the color, then the beautician has to use much more product, and it takes a lot longer to apply.
