Natural African American Hair Question?

It has been about 2 months and my hair is still not kinking up as it should. I made sure my stylist clipped off all of my relaxed hair, and my hair is still wavy and short. It is not difficult to comb, and when it is wet it does not tangle. This is my 2nd attempt to go natural. The first attempt, I wore a natural hair style for 6 months and my hair remained wavy, so I got tired of it and just relaxed it. Now, on my second attempt I am seeing the same results. The only way I can get a decent afro is if I blow dry it and it just frizzy and not a real afro. Is there anything I can do about this. I thought that having natural hair was going to enable me to do more african american hairstyles, but it seems to me that my hair is just waving up. Help!

Natural African American Hair Question?

pleeeease do not get discouraged! its sooo worth it. do NOT relaz your hair! its sooo normal to feel like giving up (you are not alone). i have been natural for 2 years (as of februaury) and i will NEVER go back to a relaxer.

try looking at www.motowngirl.com - this is THE BEST website ive ever found! there are great homeade hair recipies for massage oils, styles, shampoos...its great!

its really hard to find a natural black hair dresser, because often they do not even know what to do. for me, i just had to 'play with my hair' and learn, but this website helped me so much. just remember - 'going natural doesnt mean neglecting your hair.' it needs lovin' too! :) massage your scalp every night, while watching tv, reading, etc.

if you EVER need tips..just send me a message via yahoo messenger.

Natural African American Hair Question?

you can ust get an afro sewed in or blow dry it and pick it with a pick.....holp this helps

Natural African American Hair Question?

...sweetie maybe that is your natural texture (this wave look you are describing)...either way you don't need a relaxer according to your hair grade...as suggested just keep letting it grow out...and try this...when hair is wet twist it and let it air dry like that then take out the twist and separate the hair so it's big and wear it like that...try that style and see if you like it but don't think that your hair is supposed to look like someone else's all of our hair is different some may be more waved, curled, or even coiled than the next OK...your hair is your hair...if you can't get the style you desire naturally then improvise like we women always do...GOOD LUCK and keep those chemicals out of your hair...

Natural African American Hair Question?

It sounds like this is just your natural hair type-wavy. Be happy there are some folks who wish theirs would be curly/wavy rather than the tight curl that some consider nappy. It's all beautiful becasue that's what you were born with! Just play around with it and work it!

Natural African American Hair Question?

Don't give up yet, 2 months is not nearly enough time to figure out what direction your hair will go. Going natural involves a lot of trial and error. This may be your natural hair pattern(lucky you). Just do some research online and maybe join some natural hair groups on yahoo to get ideas and tips. If you live in a metropolitan area, there should be a natural hair salon you can go to for a consultation. I have been natural for 3-4 years. It took almost year to see my curl pattern consistently throughout my head

Natural African American Hair Question?

Well, well, well. Do not give up. I went natural almost 5 years ago and I am never relaxing my hair again. It has only been 2 months. It took me a good year or so before I was satisfied. Natural hair sometimes has a mind of its own and you must learn to love it and allow your hair to do its thing. This just may be your hair texture, and it may not be, but make sure you are also using the right products in your hair. Are you using natural oils and not grease. Are you washing your hair too often. Have you recieved a consultation. Back in the day in our Mama's kitchen....those rules do not apply because you must learn to take care of your hair. If you have more questions, please write me back. Blessings
