I have (well had, my mum forced me to get a haircut) a so called emo haircut and i didn't give a damn cause i liked it. Thing is i wanna grow it olonger again (i have short hair) and i wanna get a new style but ppl say it is more emo. That aint the prob but. My mum doesn't want me too. Everytime she goes to the hairdressers with em she shakes her head in disbelief as is this my child?! I guess what im asking is should i keep going the way i am, not caring what ppl think of me as long as im happy, or should i take some innitiative for other ppls thoughts. Oh and i am also school captain this yr and some teachers even call me emo. I also wanna dye my hair Maybe Black and White. I AM A GIRL TOO. Or would dying it all black with honey blonde streaks be good. My mum says no blue as that is what i wanted in the first place.

Emo is jst a name given to people that listen to music that is semingly more depressing. Yet Emo is also just a shorter way to say emotional. Now if someone could give me a song that doesn't have an emotion I would be glad to give emo a class it's own but every song is poetry which is a form of emotion. So being emo is being happy, sad, angry, lazy. there is not set "style." And for your hair. I am more into being yourself and doing what you want. unless you have parents like I know that will kick you out of the house for doing something then be you. I would say don't do all blue but black and highlights would be cool. $0.02

Sure, if you were having maaaaaaaad parties til three in the morning and keeping the neighbours awake, that's when you need to be conscious about others, but when it comes to your own body, do only what you want.

I was walking down the street a few weeks ago and these two dumb moronic guys called me emo cos of my cool hair...well did I care, NO, cos I'm not emo, even if I have an emo hairstyle, and I don't care what they say.

I think you should dye it what you want. But just remember if you are going to be graduating soon and going for job/college interviews that you may want to use discretion when selecting colors. Believe it or not, people do make decisions based on appearance. Once you have the job/acceptance letter, then go ahead and dye it blue. I have mine dyed brown with red-red streaks, and I've only gotten compliments. I change my hair color every two months -- once you do this for a while, people get used to it and don't talk so much.
